We have been in Costa Rica now for three weeks and are feeling pretty settled in the town of Jaco. We know a handful of people and know the good and bad spots around town and in the surrounding area. Jaco has definatly proven itself to be a pretty wild town with prostitues and drug dealers hitting the streets in the later hours. I have also heard from several people who live here that on average one person a week has been killed here since Christmas none of them have been tourists, but still... pretty nuts!!! So were helping with Christian Surfers and other churches here in trying to be a posotive witness in the community. A Caterpillar digging into some cantelope
I was in bed doodling in my sketchbook one late night and I was getting a pretty wierd vibe that something was gunna go down that night. I continued doodling until I saw an ant come out of the darkness and walk onto the left side of my page and then an even bigger badder looking ant coming onto the right side and it was right then and there I knew there was going to be a showdown. But I couldnt wait to long for I was tired, wiery and impatient so I lifted both sides of my sketchbook and they both slid into the binding colliding with each other. Wam bam blamo they busted into a full on scrap rolling all over the page ripping each others limbs off! I called my buddy Danny and he quickly lept off his bunk and over to mine and we watched these ants fight for a half hour, we were rooting for the small ant thinking he was the underdog and then he got the big ant in a leg hold which i didnt think ants could do, but then the big ant freaked out and before we knew it the small ant was goners. The big ant was wounded but still very much alive and ready for the next competitor to step into the arena which turned out to be a sandal, that fight was super quick and the sandal won.
